Racism is when someone is made fun of, or excluded because of the way they look, or because of what they believe in.

These are definitions of Racism. They all seem very similar, saying that racism is descrimination based on race, or ability, and that some races are inferior to others. Unfortunetly this is still the mind set of many people these days. People think that what they believe in or what they look like makes them better than others.

"poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race the belief           that some races of people are better than others" -1

"The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities,               or qualities specificto that race, especially so as to distinguish it                as inferior or superior to another race or races" -2

"The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. "-3

What is Racism?

How has Racism affected me?

Racism has affected me, not as bad as some other people, but has still been a part of my life. The abuse came from when I played local football, and I was seen as different, and as an outsider because I was from a different country; I didn't speak their language, and I didn't act like them.

I was never really accepted by my team even though I had played with some of the people for nearly 4 years. People these days are very quick to judge others based on first look, without trying to get to know the person first.

My survey results

To help me understand how people my age are affected by racism, I decided to send out a survey which asked questions about racism in the sports they played. This helped me see not only which sports have more racism involved at a local level, but it also gave me something to compare against the professional level. A lot of people answered the survey saying that they had personal experiences with racism.

The results showed that racism happens throughout all kinds of sports, ranging from Dancing to Football. Very few people said that they themselves had been racist towards other sand were honest and admitted the things they said. All of those people said they regretted it and felt terrible about what they said.
